In this article, I’ll be putting the spotlight on the Bug card, “Grub Surprise.”

As of January 2022, this card has 110 base damage, provides 50 shields, and costs 1 energy. It also inflicts the Fear debuff on the enemy Axie if they are shielded.

How Is Grub Surprise Used?

This card is mainly used for both offense and defense. It’s used to deal high-damage on an enemy target, as well as inflict Fear in order to prevent them from counter-attacking.

It’s especially useful against Dusks, Plants, and Reptiles, because of their natural disadvantage against Bugs, but it’s primary use is to inflict Fear and avoid damage. However, it only inflicts Fear if the target has a shield.

What Kind of Axies/Teams Use Grub Surprise?

Most of the Axies that use this card are damage/utility Bugs.

Grub Surprise is an amazing counter to teams that have a lot of combo damage and shields. By inflicting Fear, their damage will drastically get reduced.

It’s a great alternative to other cards that can inflict Fear (Terror Chomp and Balloon Pop).

Pros and Cons of the Grub Surprise Card

Pros

Deals great damage and provides decent shields
Inflicts Fear on the target if they are shielded

Cons

Only works if the target has a shield
