Card Spotlight: Chemical Warfare

In this article, I’ll be putting the spotlight on the Bug card, “Chemical Warfare.”

Chemical Warfare

As of January 2022, this card has 30 base damage, provides 100 shields, and costs 1 energy. It also applies the Stench debuff on the target until the round ends.

How Is Chemical Warfare Used?

This card is mainly used both offensively and defensively. It’s used to redirect attacks to the enemy behind the target affected by debuffs, as well as provide huge shields on the user.

It’s especially useful against Dusks, Plants, and Reptiles, because of their natural disadvantage against Bugs, but it’s most effective against teams that have a back/midline Axie that plays a central role to their win condition.

Unfortunately, Stench needs to be used by the fastest member of the team in order to be effective, since it works by ignoring the affected target. This means that allies are either slower than the user, or the user needs to be extremely fast.

What Kind of Axies/Teams Use Chemical Warfare?

Most of the Axies that use this card are utility Bugs. Chemical Warfare is a great counter against squishy Axies that rely on a solid frontline.

Stench enables the team to bypass the tank and focus on the Axie that is directly behind them. This means that pairing Chemical Warfare with an Axie that can provide tons of burst damage will ensure that enemy Axies won’t know what hit them.
