I’ve been playing Axie Infinity for quite a while now, although I’m still relatively new to these kinds of games. The time I’ve spent playing this game has been nothing short of a fun rollercoaster ride.
Despite being a great experience and the game changing certain aspects of my life for the better, there are a few things that I wish I knew before playing Axie Infinity.

1) Experience In Card Games Would Come In Handy
While it may sound like a no-brainer, I didn’t realize how big of an impact having experience in card games has when it comes to finding success in Axie Infinity.
Playing games like Hearthstone, Legends of Runeterra, and various others would give players an edge over their inexperienced counterparts.
I wasn’t really a fan of these as I loved playing games that were geared towards action and adventure. I also loved playing MOBAs and MMORPGs, but I never got into card games aside from Yu-Gi-Oh.
If I knew that I was going to be playing Axie Infinity and earning money because of it, I would’ve played tons of card games just to sharpen my game sense.
If you haven’t started playing Axie Infinity yet but want to play in the near future, I suggest playing the other games I’ve mentioned here in order to make your transition to Lunacia easier!
2) How Big the Game Was Going To Be
The playerbase of Axie Infinity has turned into one of the biggest, if not the biggest, playerbases of an NFT game, averaging at around 2 million daily users.
The game is also partners with several multi-billion dollar companies like Samsung, Ubisoft, and Binance. Sky Mavis, the company responsible for developing Axie Infinity, has recently raised $152 million at a nearly $3 billion valuation that would help further grow and develop their game.
On a personal level, a lot of my friends are also playing Axie Infinity. To my surprise, even my parents asked me about it. You know a game is widely known if old people become curious about it.
I’ve also heard about the game way before it became famous and I wanted to try it out. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford buying my own Axies so I just went and forgot about it. If I knew it was gonna get this big, I would’ve gotten a loan.
News outlets all over the world have probably reported the growth of Axie Infinity and according to the developers, it’s only the beginning.
3) Pure ≠ Strong
When I started researching about the game and watching my friends play, I always thought that pure Axies were the strongest.
I believed that because they all had body parts that were all from the same class, they would be dominant and that’s the way they were meant to be played. Now that I have first-hand experience, that isn’t always the case.
There are many builds that use Axies with various body parts in order to fulfill a specific win condition. For example, Poison teams like to use Plants and Reptiles with different parts from both classes, as well as certain Bug cards.
4) How Great and Welcoming the Community Is
The community of Axie Infinity is one of the most fun and welcoming communities I have ever been a part of. It’s also the most diverse community with members coming from different backgrounds and all walks of life.
I’ve seen players, artists, managers, investors, and fans interact in one place, all talking about Axie Infinity. I also visit the official discord frequently for news and updates, and the people there are always active and ready to answer all your questions!
5) That I’d Be Having So Much Fun
The time I’ve spent playing this game has been nothing short of fun and life-changing. I’ve met so many people through Axie and the money I earned by playing had a significant impact on my life.
I love how the game is familiar, yet puts its own spin on the card game genre. I also think that it’s cool how the devs put an emphasis on community development, as well as the overall economic health and sustainability of the game.
There were also times where all I could think about was playing Axie and I even dreamt about it multiple times.
I’ve been having the time of my life when I’m playing the game (aside from when the enemy crits). If I knew that the game was this fun, I would’ve bought my own team ages ago.
What Do You Think?
If I knew all of these, I would’ve played a lot sooner, but life would be a lot more boring if we knew what the future had in store for us.
While there may have been things that I wish I knew before I started my Axie Infinity journey, I’m still satisfied that I’m playing now. I got to meet a lot of cool people and become a part of something bigger than myself.
