In this article, I’ll be putting the spotlight on the Aqua card, “Swallow.”

As of October 2021, this card has 80 base damage, 30 shields, and costs 1 energy. It also heals the user for the damage the card deals.

How Is Swallow Used?

This card is used mainly by secondary tank/utility Aquas, as well as certain damage builds. It’s used to heal the user after sustaining damage in order to keep them alive for longer

What Kind of Axies/Teams Use Swallow?

Most of the Axies that use this card are Aqua Axies in Aqua-Aqua Plant (AAP) team compositions. Either Aqua could have Swallow, but it’s recommended to have it on the midline Aqua and let the backline focus solely on damage.

It could theoretically work for tanky Aquas and other tankier classes in order to bolster their defensive capabilities.

Pros and Cons of the Swallow Card

Pros

decent damage with good shields
heals the user for the damage dealt

Cons

has lower damage in comparison to other Aqua cards
healing is based on damage dealt; different classes provide different levels of healing

Swallow Card Synergies

Upstream Swim, Swift Escape
standard cards to have on a backline Aqua, pairing it with Swallow creates a high-damage backline Aqua that can keep up with faster Axies and heal itself

Hero’s Bane, Star Shuriken, Water Sphere, Crimson Water
high-damage Aqua cards that can be used to take enemies down

Shelter, Shipwreck
good defensive Aqua cards that could make a tanky Aqua Axie when paired with Swallow

Aquaponics, Aqua Vitality
Aqua cards that also give healing could be used in tandem with Swallow to make an annoying and unkillable Aqua
