In this article, I’ll be putting the spotlight on the Bug card, “Anesthetic Bait.”

As of December 2021, this card has 60 base damage, provides 90 shields, and costs 1 energy. When struck by Aquatic or Bird class cards, Anesthetic Bait applies Stun on the opposing attacker.

How Is Anesthetic Bait Used?

It’s a defensive card meant to counter Aquatic and Bird Axies. Bugs lose to these classes in class advantage, so this card compensates for that difference.

It can be used for brick walling because of its high shields, and some follow-up damage against Plants, Reptiles, and Dusks.

What Kind of Axies/Teams Use Anesthetic Bait?

Lots of Discard Bugs run free into the meta, and most of them have Anesthetic Bait. In the higher rankings, Discard Bugs serve as frontlines and midlines, so they need Anesthetic Bait in case they encounter Aqua or Bird Axies.

Some Plants may even use Anesthetic Bait for their defensive skills and high shields.

unbefitting to most Axie classes except Bugs and Plants

Sunder Claw, Third Glance
Discard Bug Axies need defensive cards, and Anesthetic Bait card fits the bill

Sticky Goo
this card paired with Anesthetic Bait can create a Bug tank, that can be placed at the front; it may also stun enemies twice

Smart Shot, Sneaky Raid, Venom Spray
these cards shout threats for backdoor attacks, making it a deadly combo for poison Axies
