Metroid Prime 3 Released!

August 28th, 2007 by WickeD

Today is a landmark day for the Wii and its owners. One of the most anticipated games is finally released Metroid!! While I had a chance to play the first planet over the weekend at GameStop its hard to control my self. The controls are just as solid as every preview has said. This shooter is going to path the way for FPS games on the Wii. If companies have not figured out a good setup they have a great skeleton to work off of now. The lock system we are all used to from prior Prime games on the GC is still available to use but with how smooth the wii mote aims you wont need it. I will be picking up my copy on my lunch break and will report more about any preorder special items I mite receive.

To be continued?

Manhunt 2 is officially back on. Coming October 31st.

August 24th, 2007 by Smeatbass

Rockstar has announced that a reworked version of its controversial Manhunt 2 has been granted an M rating by the ESRB. Free of the shackles of its original AO classification, the game is currently scheduled for release in the US on Wii, PS2 and PSP this Halloween, October 31.

Sam Houser, founder and executive producer of Rockstar Games noted of the decision, “Manhunt 2 is important to us, and we’re glad it can finally be appreciated as a gaming experience”. He continued, “We love the horror genre. Manhunt 2 is a powerful piece of interactive story telling that is a unique video game experience. We think horror fans will love it.”

In its original guise, Manhunt 2 was granted an AO rating by the ESRB, meaning that neither Sony or Nintendo would permit the game to appear on its consoles. Meanwhile, Rockstar is currently appealing the British Board of Film Classification’s decision to refuse certification for the game in the UK, effectively banning it from sale in the country.

Rockstar’s UK PR team were unable to comment on the status of the appeal, nor whether we can expect this reworked version of Manhunt 2 to be resubmitted to the BBFC in the near future.

Vgchartz: Wii is market leader

August 22nd, 2007 by Smeatbass

Today, Vgchartz.com posted an official press release stating that the Wii has surpassed the XBox 360 as the world wide market leader. While some state that Vgchartz is inaccurate, it can’t be ignored that these numbers are close enough, and are pretty accurate to the amount of Wii’s sold. Here is the official press release.

Vgchartz.com, the most comprehensive Videogame charts in the world has announced that lifetime sales of Nintendo’s Wii have passed Microsoft’s Xbox 360 on a worldwide basis as of August 23rd. (*)

Two years ago, very few analysts would have predicted the Nintendo Wii would be market leader this generation against the established Playstation and Xbox brands. But analysts can be in error: Vgchartz.com data, which is based on sample data from retailers all over the world indicates that the week ending August 23rd Nintendo’s Wii (which was released one year after the Xbox 360 in November 2006), currently standing at 10.57 million consoles sold, passed Xbox 360 lifetime sales of 10.51 million units, making Nintendo the new market leader in both the home and handheld videogame console businesses.
